Vintage Swedish Herbarium - Globeflower, circa 1930

There are flowers that seem to belong perfectly to a meadow, and the Globeflower is one of them. This cheerful member of the buttercup family was gathered in 1930 near Hyllstofta, a village in Skåne, the southernmost province of Sweden, where meadows and open countryside have long been part of the landscape.

Perhaps it was the unusual roundness of the golden bloom that caught the collector's attention, glowing among the grasses on a summer walk. Carefully gathered and pressed, it became a small record of the Swedish countryside, preserving not only the flower but a particular place and moment in time.
